He asks people in the situation you describe to go down three questions, in order:<br /><br />-[supposing I can't change Ted's mind] what do these things mean about what sort of person I am? What does it mean about how I relate to him?<br />-[supposing I can't change Ted's mind] what does that mean about what kind of person he is? What does it mean about how I relate to him?<br />-[supposing, etc] what does that mean about our relationship? What scripts will we use?
